Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette? Discover the differences

- Categories : Perfumery

Have you ever wondered what is the difference between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette ? Often these two categories are confused and it is difficult to know which one to choose. However, there is an important difference between them that can affect the duration and intensity of the scent on your skin.

EAU DE TOILETTE

An Eau de Toilette is a fragrance with a concentration of essential oils between 5% and 15% . This makes for a lighter, fresher version of the perfume that fades faster. The term "Eau de Toilette" originated in France in the 18th century, where it was used to describe a refreshing fragrance used to refresh oneself throughout the day. In general, an Eau de Toilette lasts between 2 and 4 hours on the skin.

EAU DE PARFUM

An Eau de Parfum is a fragrance with a concentration of essential oils from 15% to 20% , which makes it a more concentrated and long-lasting version . Due to its higher concentration, the scent of the Eau de Parfum is more intense and can last on the skin for the whole day or even longer. In general, an Eau de Parfum lasts between 6 and 8 hours on the skin.
